Why is membership important? Yes, we do have a lot of money saving discounts but the reason is much deeper. Being a member of NTEU, the largest independent federal union, you are part of something bigger than just the day-to-day routines we get ourselves into. NTEU represents 150,000+ employees in 31 agencies and departments. Everytime a new member joins us our voice gets bigger and stronger. Our National President meets with Legislators and Congress. These are the people who make decisions about our work, and our pay. Locally being a member gives you a voice in local negotiations and bargaining. Our Chapter actively solicits opinions and concerns from members when negotiating changes in your work.

Living in a Right-to-Work State we have been victims of the perceptual framework that unions are bad for employees as well as management. People thought FDR was a little crazy when he publicly supported unions too. Think about this, without labor organizations just like NTEU child labor would still be legal in this country. You nothing to lose and everything to gain, JOIN!
